Oh do please
come in,
It’s so kind
of you to call.
You see I
have this poem,
And I’m not
sure what to write at all.
Can I offer
you some tea?
Or tempt you
with something sweet.
Oh forgive
me gushing slightly,
But I’ve
been a fan so long.
To have one’s
idol come for tea,
Well it
really is quite fun.
I’ve read of
all your deeds and mysteries.
That nice
Mrs. Christie wrote.
I’ve seen so
many versions of you
On screens both
small and large.
Joan Hickson will always be for me,
The one
who got your character perfectly.
Now while
you sip your tea.
Please tell
me do,
Tales of murder
and foul deeds
And how you
solve all these.
With that gentle twinkle in your eye.
Yet your resolve of steel.

You Might Not Know Me But.....
Address this poem to a fictional character or a historical figure.
I love that the speaker doesn't allow her idol to put in a word... that's exactly how it would go in my house. Wonderfully done!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Magaly. When I got to meet one of my idols, Henry Rollins, I was so...astonished I couldn't react properly until I got the fangirl out of the way.
ReplyDeleteI'd chatter the ears of my idols right off as well! What a lovely exuberance to this!
ReplyDeleteThis was a sweet little memento. Very nice work.
